View chart of Season Dates and Bag Limits below.
Important Reminders for 2009:
Hunting season is open for canvasbacks this year.
Scaup daily bag limit is two for the entire 60-day season.
The common moorhen daily bag limit has been reduced to one.
Other Important Information:
To hunt migratory waterfowl in Michigan you must have a small game license (with HIP endorsement*), a Michigan waterfowl license, and a federal duck stamp. Duck stamps are available at D&R Sports.
* The Harvest Information Program (HIP) is a survey taken when purchasing a small game license. When you purchase your small game license, you will be asked if you will be hunting any migratory birds or woodcock. If there is any chance that you will be hunting these, be sure to answer yes. The endorsement is FREE and is required for hunting migratory birds. You will then be asked a series of questions regarding your last year's harvest numbers. The endorsement will print out on your small game license, and consists of the statement: "Migratory Bird Hunter - YES". Persons hunting migratory birds without this endorsement may be fined.
