Humminbird Days Saturday, February 25 - 10:00 am & 1:30 pm or Sunday, February 26 - 10:30 am
Bryan Plenzler, pro angler and Humminbird Factory Rep, will be giving instruction on the use of today’s modern GPS/Fishfinder (GPS, Side Scan, Down Imaging, etc.). Participants will have a Humminbird GPS/Fishfinder in front of them for hands-on instruction of proper electronics use. Get tips and techniques on how to get maximum performance out of your electronics. Take advantage of special event discounts on electronics! Fee for the class is $10; each participant will receive a $10 Gift Card to D&R Sports at the end of the class. Class size is limited to 40 participants per class; early registration is required. Great Lakes Salmon Workshop & Super Walleye Clinic Saturday, March 3 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Attend FREE informative seminars. Speak with Representatives from major manufacturers including Okuma, Shimano, Northland Tackle, Normark, G. Loomis and many more! Speak with local organizations including the Michigan Steelhead and Salmon Fishermen’s Association and the West Michigan Walleye Club. Take advantage of special event discounts on tackle and equipment. Free admission and free parking!
Great Lakes Salmon Workshop - Captain Bill Bale and Captain Dave Engel of Best Chance Too Charters, the #1 all-time Lake Michigan tournament team, will be giving a Free Seminar at 10:00am.
Big Water Super Walleye Clinic - Features a two-hour informative seminar: "Fishing for Walleyes In The Three Open-Water Seasons (Early Spring to Late Fall)" with the West Michigan Walleye Club at 1:00pm. They will discuss in detail fishing methods and locations, including the Detroit River, St. Clair River, Lake Erie, Saginaw Bay, and Little Bay De Noc, and how to find walleyes around the local pier heads in the spring time. Concealed Pistol License Class Saturday, March 10, April 14 or May 12 9:00am - 6:00pm
Cost for the class is $125 and includes lunch, NRA Packet for Personal Protection Inside the Home, Lawyer Question & Answer Time, Classroom and Range Time. $50 will reserve your spot in the class. Students will need a firearm and approximately 150 rounds of ammunition. Loaner guns are available. Sign up at D&R's Customer Service Desk. Class size is limited so sign up in advance. Hunter Safety Class Friday, March 16 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm & Saturday, March 17 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
Fee for the class is $10, due at Friday's session. You are required to attend both sessions (Fri. and Sat.) in order to pass the class. The Friday session runs from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. Saturday's session runs from 9:30am - 4:00pm. There will be a lunch break on Saturday. Please plan to bring a lunch. We do have pop machines and assorted snack items available for purchase at our front counter. You will also need to bring eye and ear protection for target practice on Saturday.
Classes are open to all ages. Students under 10 years of age should have an adult with them. Sessions will be held in D&R Sports Center's Service Department, located behind the store. Call D&R's Customer Service at 269-372-2277 to sign up, or stop by the store. Class sizes are limited, so please sign up in advance.
Spring Turkey Workshop Saturday, March 24 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
Expert Mike Kennedy, Pro-Staff team member for Primos Game Calls, will lead two seminars – “Basic Hunting” at 10am and “Advanced Hunting” at 2pm. Seminars will focus on all aspects of turkey hunting, including location, decoys, calling, and more. The Southwestern Michigan Long Beards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be at D&R Sports all day with personal instruction and NWTF information. View Event Poster
Evening with Kevin VanDam Thursday, March 29 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Stop by and meet the #1 angler in the world! Kevin VanDam is a four-time Bassmaster Classic Champion, and has seven Angler of the Year awards. Kevin will be doing a meet & greet autograph session from 5 - 6pm. We have a large selection of KVD books and clothing available for purchase, perfect for getting autographs. Attend a one-hour seminar, “The Winning System of KVD” at 6pm. Learn the KVD way to approach and "seine" the water of bass. You can’t do any better than hearing it from the master!
